CN Communications will plan and organize events such as the Thomas Edison Awards on behalf the council. The Research and Development Council of New Jersey said today that new executive leadership is taking over. Anthony Cicatiello, chairman of CN Communications International Inc., in Newark, was named executive director for the council effective July 1.
ÂWeÂre going to have two months of transition with the firm that had been managing it before, Cicatiello said.
The council is a nonprofit supporter of research and development in the state, and a key sponsor of the Liberty Science Center, in Jersey City.
Richartz Fliss Clark & Pope, in Denville, had been handling management duties for some 12 years prior, he said.
Kim Marie Wozniak, an associate at CN Communications, will be assistant executive director for the council.
The Research and Development CouncilÂs new chairman, Thomas F. Degan Jr., took his seat at the head of the board of directors on June 23. Degan is a manager with ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Co., in Annandale.
Strategic communications firm CN Communications will plan and organize events such as the Thomas Edison Awards on behalf the council. ÂWeÂll be managing all the various events, Cicatiello said. CN also will develop a strategic plan for the council to advocate research and development in the state, he said.
ÂThe president, in his most recent speech on science and technology, said he was going to dedicate approximately 3 percent of the GDP [gross domestic product]. ThatÂs a huge amount of money, Cicatiello said. Positioning research firms in the state to be leaders in this area, in order to bring that federal funding to New Jersey, is a priority, he said.
