Arizona healthy foods chain True Food Kitchen opened its inaugural New Jersey outpost March 17 in Hackensack.
The new location at The Shops at Riverside spans 6,628 square feet with a 1,200-square-foot patio.
Co-founded by celebrity doctor Dr. Andrew Weil, True Food Kitchen’s seasonal menu is guided by his anti-inflammatory food pyramid.
Spring menu items a vegan double cheeseburger comprised of a house-made vegetarian patty made with portobello mushroom, walnut, beet, kuzu, and topped with butter lettuce, pickled onion, organic tomato, vegan cheddar and vegenaise on a flaxseed bun; the spicy tuna spring roll made with wild albacore tuna, baru nut sauce, turmeric nuoc cham rice noodle, carrot asparagus, romaine, cilantro, Thai basil and mint; and the avocado key lime pie for a seasonal vegan dessert.
Additionally, the restaurant offers a scratch bar featuring freshly pressed juices and organic teas; and beer, wine and handcrafted cocktails are also available.
“We’re excited to share our passion for flavorful, healthy food and thoughtfully crafted beverages with the Hackensack community,” said Chief Marketing Officer Shannon Keller in a prepared statement. “As we open our doors for dine in, we want our guests to know that our dedication to healthy living extends beyond our food – with safety standards and social distancing guidelines in place to create a safe and comfortable dining experience.”
