Retail and franchising vet Andrew Alfano is the new chief executive at Colts Neck-based fitness chain Retro Fitness.
He joins Retro Fitness from early education franchise The Learning Experience, headquartered in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he served as president and chief operating officer. The company doubled its center count and began plans for European expansion during his four-year tenure.
Alfano spent the nine previous years in executive positions at Starbucks, spending the last three there accountable for more than $3.5 billion in revenue as its senior vice president of U.S. business.
Now, he will lead the 150-plus location franchise as it continues to expand.
“I love to build brands. Retro Fitness has all the characteristics of what I love – a compelling value proposition, strong franchisee base and a brand following with consumers ripe for growth and expansion,” says Alfano in a statement. “By offering members everything they love about a big box gym and bundling it with personalized group classes, niche workout experiences and personal training, Retro Fitness has great potential for its next phase of growth.”
Retro Fitness has locations in 15 states, serving over 400,000 members.
