Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti LLP in Morristown brought on Heather Middleton and Craig Terkowitz as counsel, the firm announced Sept. 8.
Middleton is counsel in the firm’s securities litigation, arbitration, regulation and investigations group. Her practice is focused on defending financial services firms and their employees in litigation involving securities law and other commercial claims, in regulatory investigations, and in enforcement proceedings.
Middleton has represented broker-dealers and financial advisers in FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) arbitrations and in state and federal courts. She’s successfully defended investor and employment claims on a broad range of issues including those relating to options trading, levered products, margin, suitability, churning, fraud and unauthorized trading. Additionally, she drafts compliance policies and procedures and assists clients with regulatory compliance.
Middleton joins Riker Danzig from New York firm Murphy & McGonigle. She previously spent more than a decade at Merrill Lynch, most recently as an analyst on a high net worth team in the private banking and investment group.
Terkowitz joins the firm from Hanover Insurance Co., where he was an attorney. He’s counsel in the firm’s insurance and reinsurance group and has significant experience in preparing coverage opinions and handling litigation coverage disputes arising out of commercial general liability, business owner’s policy, homeowners, commercial auto and personal auto policies, according to his hiring announcement.
