Somerset Medical Center, in Somerville, and New Brunswick’s Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital will form a partnership, the boards of directors at both hospitals announced Thursday evening.
The next step in the process is a review period to establish the structure of the partnership, and to “review the operations and financial parameters of both institutions.”
The joint statement issued by Somerset and RWJUH said, “As the terms and details of this partnership unfold, both institutions will focus on identifying ways to increase clinical collaboration and expand programs to better meet the health care needs of all residents of Central New Jersey.”
No timeline for the partnership has been announced. NJBIZ reported in November in a Grapevine column that the two entities were considering a partnership.
