Part of the ongoing $300 million Rowan Boulevard Project, the five-floor building features classrooms, a 1,194-space parking garage and 9,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space. It is situated between a recently opened Marriott Courtyard hotel and the school’s Barnes & Noble Collegiate Superstore, which opened in 2011.
According to Gloucester County freeholder Heather Simmons, the retail and parking components of the building are expected to create 90 jobs.
“Of all the projects we’ve done on Rowan Boulevard, this is my baby,” university President Ali Houshmand said of the Enterprise Center in a release.
Mercer County-based developer Nexus Properties built the building and will continue to own it, thus keeping it a ratable property for Glassboro.
Dante Germano, Nexus chief operating officer, said in the spring, the developer expects to break ground on Penthouses on Rowan Boulevard, a 300,000-square-foot mixed-use building featuring residential, retail and healthcare amenities.
The university says that when the entire project is complete, it will offer 60 new retail stores and generate more than $48 million for the local economy.
