Rudolph Technologies bolsters semiconductor inspection services through acquisition

Rudolph Technologies Inc. said Tuesday it has acquired a Massachusetts-based semiconductor inspection technology company.The Flanders-based inspection and analysis services firm said in a news release that it has purchased Stella Alliance LLC for an undisclosed amount. That company uses an illumination, auto-focus and image acquisition technology to identify defects not visible through other techniques, Rudolph added.

“We expect the addition of this patented technology to bring a competitive advantage to our customers by addressing current inspection limitations, while helping Rudolph maintain the dominant market share in the back-end inspection arena,” Paul McLaughlin, Rudolph’s chairman and CEO, said in a prepared statement.

Rudolph said it expects to add the technology to its suite of solutions in the second quarter of 2016.
