Earnings increased to $64.2 million, or 68 cents per share, from $63.8 million, or 66 cents per share, last year. Gross profit increased to $288 million compared with $285 million for the year-ago quarter. The Saddle Brook packaging-material maker credited solid sales at its food-packaging segment, which makes packaging products for meat and poultry sold in stores, as well as its protective-packaging segment, which makes items such as Bubble Wrap and Jiffy envelopes. Sealed Air shares were up $1.57 to $49.82 in morning trading.
