John C. Burville will serve on its board of directors in January and stand for election in April.Selective Insurance Group announced today that John C. Burville has been appointed to its board of directors effective January 1. He will stand for election by shareholders at the company’s annual meeting in April. Burville, who has more than 30 years experience in the insurance industry, will serve on the salary and employee-benefits committee, and the finance committee.

He is currently an insurance consultant to the government of Bermuda. Burville attended Leicester University in the United Kingdom, where he received a B.A. and a Ph.D. in mathematical logic.

Headquartered in Branchville, Selective is a holding company for six property and casualty insurance companies that offer primary and alternative market insurance for commercial and personal risks, in addition to flood insurance policy, administration and claim services. Selective stock gained $0.26 to $56.54 in early trading.
