U.S. Sens. Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, Democrats from New Jersey, announced Tuesday that Atlantic City International Airport and Ocean County Airport will receive a combined total of $8.4 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration to make necessary repairs and improvements.
Atlantic City International Airport will receive $8 million to construct a de-icing facility while Ocean County Airport will receive $400,000 to replace its current beacon.
“New Jersey’s airports are vital to our nation’s transportation system and are an economic driver in our state,” Menendez said in a statement. “Investing in our aging infrastructure keeps our families safe, creates good jobs, and allows travel to continue running smoothly.”
“Federal investments in New Jersey’s aging infrastructure strengthen our economy, create good jobs, and keep travelers moving,” Booker said in a statement. “By modernizing our region’s airports, we help improve safety and increase our state’s economic competitiveness.”
Atlantic City International Airport offers commercial air travel to support tourism and commerce. Ocean County Airport services general aviation and emergency services aircraft.
