SGW has added Jeff Buonforte to serve as director of bank marketing for the agency.
In the new role, Buonforte will be in charge of managing the banking consultation division of SGW, whose charter is to assist community banks with navigating the challenges of today’s regulatory environment and grow their businesses.
Buonforte brings more than 35 years’ experience to his new post at the Montville-based marketing agency, having most recently served as executive vice president at Lakeland Bank from 1999 until this year.
SGW Chief Executive Officer Dave Scelba said he was optimistic about the ways in which Buonforte’s knowledge will translate to the marketing side of things.
“Jeff brings experience, a unique perspective, and a seasoned understanding of today’s compliance issues and the increasing challenges regional and local community banks face,” Scelba said in a prepared statement.
In his career, Buonforte has managed banking departments – including marketing and communications, government and municipal relations, commercial lending, retail and wealth management – as well as Lakeland’s scholarship fund.
Buonforte has appeared as a financial planning expert on both News 12 New Jersey and WWOR and is an advisory board member of William Paterson University’s College of Busniness.
“I’m proud of all the teams and accomplishments we experienced at Lakeland, but I’m especially proud to have introduced SGW to the bank,” Buonforte said in a prepared statement. “SGW re-branded Lakeland Bank, and played an integral role in the significant growth the bank has experienced.”
SGW spun three of its division to create independent companies with expertise, SGW Bank Marketing is one such entity.
