Shlimbaum receives NJ Academy of Family Physicians’ President’s Award

The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP) presented Dr. Terry Shlimbaum, with the President’s Award at the NJAFP’s Family Medicine Forum, held in June, in Atlantic City.

The President’s Award is presented to an individual who provided outstanding service to NJAFP during the course of the outgoing president’s term. Outgoing NJAFP President Dr. Lauren Carruth Mehnert presented Shlimbaum with the award for his outstanding contributions to the organization.

“Dr. Shlimbaum was the president of NJAFP when I was an intern, and he invited me to the NJAFP leadership conference that year,” said Mehnert in a statement. “The opportunity to interact with family physicians from across the state, all working to make New Jersey a better place for physicians and their patients, was inspiring. With his support, I continued to stay involved and eventually joined the NJAFP board. I am incredibly grateful for his introduction to NJAFP, as well as his encouragement as a mentor and teacher,” Mehnert said.

The NJAFP, the largest primary care medical specialty society in the state, is a leader in health care practice transformation and advocacy, advancing the specialty of family medicine and improving access to high-quality health care for patients.

Shlimbaum brings more than 30 years of experience as a practicing family physician and health care executive to his current role as medical director of ArchCare in New York. Prior to his current position, he served as the New York State medical director for Senior Whole Health and as the chief of Adult Primary Care Service Line and Physician Integration for Summit Medical Group.

As a past president of the NJAFP, Dr. Shlimbaum remains an active, participating member of the organization.
