ShopRite’s ‘Fresh to Table’ concept debuts at Wharton store

As part of an effort to make it even easier for shoppers to find healthy food, Wakefern Food Corp. is continuing to roll out an innovative concept that provides a one-stop shop for fresh, on-trend foods; easy-to-prepare recipes; and ingredients and meal solutions in grab-and-go formats.

Initially launched in fall 2020, Fresh to Table is an in-store shopping experience that includes sections with ready-to-cook items, ready-to-heat and serve items, and ready-to-eat meals.

Since then, the offering has been added at several ShopRite stores that are part of the Wakefern family, including ones in Kearny, Newton, Sparta, Byram, Mansfield, Succasunna, Belleville, Nutley, Newark and Brookdale, as well as locations in Connecticut and New York.

Fresh to Table also recently made its debut at The ShopRite of Wharton, located at 314 Route 15, Wakefern announced in a March 27 press release.

Terry Glass, co-CEO of Glass Gardens, the family-owned company that owns and operates the ShopRite of Wharton, said, “We are excited to introduce the Fresh to Table concept to our Wharton store as another way for customers to access fresh foods and easy-to-prepare meals. Fresh to Table provides a wide selection of fresh-from-the-oven prepared foods along with prepped, ready-to-cook ingredients to make it easy for customers to prepare wholesome meals for themselves and their families.”

The multipurpose space also features new and innovative foods from ShopRite’s private label lines, including Bowl & Basket and Wholesome Pantry.

Curated by ShopRite chefs, the budget-friendly meals are procured from various departments across the store, including meat, produce, seafood and bakery, and can be ordered through ShopRite’s online grocery service.

Founded in 1946, Wakefern’s 48 member companies – which include ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage, Dearborn Market and Fairway Market – own and operate 365 stores across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
