Cliff Skelton has been named president and chief operating officer for Conduent Inc.
Skelton will manage day-to-day operations across business units, the Florham Park-based digital platform and service company said in announcing his appointment on Tuesday.
Skelton comes to the position from Fiserv Output Solutions, where he served as president. Prior to that he spent five years as executive vice president and chief information officer for that company, and, Conduent said, he was also a member of the executive committee.
His positions prior include as chief technology and operations officer for Ally Financial (formerly General Motors Acceptance Corp.) and as chief operations officer for the card services group at Bank of America.
Conduent said that Skelton also spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy as a squadron commanding officer and aviator.
“Over the past year, Conduent has made numerous foundational improvements to modernize our infrastructure and drive efficiencies to better serve our customers,” said William Parrett, chairman of the Conduent’s board, in a prepared statement.
“Cliff’s experience across our key verticals and his proven ability to transform operations in the business process outsourcing sector by leveraging innovative technology make him the ideal person to lead our operational team. He will help build on Conduent’s efforts as we shift our business to focus on higher value-add digital offerings,” he added.
Earlier in May, it was announced that Conduent Chief Executive Officer Ashok Vemuri will step down from that role and as a member of the board of directors, though he would stay on until a successor has been appointed. At the time, the company projected its board would make a decision as to who would take on the position by the third quarter of 2019.
