Livingston-based accounting firm SobelCo announced Monday it hired Carolyn D’Anna as chief operating officer.
She is the firm’s first COO.
“Unprecedented times often result in unprecedented opportunities,” said Managing Partner Alan Sobel. “Our firm has flourished for more than six decades since we were founded in 1956 in Newark, New Jersey. We have enjoyed consistent organic growth over the years and combined with several significant mergers, we have steadily expanded our service offerings and presence in the community. As a result, we have emerged as one of the key leaders in the tri-state area and in the profession, ranked as the tenth fastest-growing accounting firm in the U.S. for 2019 by Accounting Today.”
With growth comes change and new responsibilities, noted Sobel, highlighting the importance of bringing a COO on board.
D’Anna spent her career at CohnReznick, including at its predecessor JH Cohn. She advanced to an accounting and audit partner, and eventually became the firm’s chief human resource officer.
When asked what the transition to a new firm would mean for her, D’Anna said, “While serving in the role of chief human resource officer at CohnReznick, my responsibilities included working closely with other key executives in finance, technology, operations and strategy. As such, I had the opportunity to assume an influential role in the exponential growth of a major regional firm – and it is that experience that I will draw on extensively in order to add value to SobelCo clients and colleagues as the firm continues on its own exciting growth trajectory,” according to her hiring announcement.
