A southern New Jersey insurance company has acquired another firm based in Mount Holly, it announced Thursday.Hardenbergh Insurance Group’s takeover of the Ken Curtis Insurance Agency creates the Curtis Hardenbergh Insurance Group, with operations in Mount Holly and at Hardenbergh’s headquarters in Marlton.

The firms said Brian Curtis, principal of the Ken Curtis agency, will oversee the transition.

“The insurance industry is evolving at a rapid pace (and) this new opportunity will bring (together) the experience and expertise of two great companies that (have) seen changes come and go,” he said in a prepared statement. “We are thrilled to join Hardenbergh Insurance and continue that legacy for years to come.”

Both firms are family-run, they said.

“By joining with the Ken Curtis Insurance Agency and their team, we are reinforcing our position as the leading provider of insurance and risk management in the South Jersey area,” Jon Sharp, CEO of Hardenbergh, said in a statement. “Our combined century-long experience and commitment to superior client service was a natural unity.”
