South Plainfield company helps bring solar power to Middle East

A South Plainfield company’s subsidiary announced Wednesday that it has partnered on the largest Smart Solar power plant in the Middle East.Petra Solar, a unit of power technology provider Petra Systems, and Caspian Renewable Energy, Inc., completed the installation for Bahrain Petroleum Company, or BAPCO, according to a news release.

“BAPCO is very excited about this project; being the first of its kind in the Middle East, it will be a proud showcase,” Adel Almoayyed, CEO of BAPCO, said in the release. “We expect that this project will be the first step in Bahrain’s march towards a solar future.”

“We are honored to be a part of a project of this importance to Bahrain and look forward to continuing to help Bahrain become a world leader in solar innovation,” said Steve Rhoades, CEO of Petra Systems.
