Space provider aims at Jersey City offices looking to grow

Businesses looking to launch or expand in New Jersey without fully committing to new office locations or obtaining a commercial loan can set up shop remotely through Regus PLC, which will open its newest location in Jersey City on Monday.

Businesses looking to launch or expand in New Jersey without fully committing to new office locations or obtaining a commercial loan can set up shop remotely through Regus PLC, which will open its newest location in Jersey City on Monday.

“More companies are finding out about this alternative and cost-effective way to run their business, and anyone within our network can link to other clients that use our services,” said Rose Palma, the New Jersey area sales director for Regus. “That gives companies an easy way to do business with each other, since we have a diverse span of industries — like consulting, financial and pharmaceuticals — in our offices.”

Despite the state having some of the highest property taxes in the country, Palma said the company finds New Jersey a highly profitable area for its work space business, and its first Jersey City location in the Harborside Financial Center is at 100 percent occupancy, Palma said.

“We deal with prospects on a daily basis, and they ask us where we have locations,” Palma said. “These locations in New Jersey have an increasing demand, and that’s how we decide where to go.”

Palma said Regus’ goal is to get to 100 percent occupancy in all of its 23 New Jersey offices, and the majority of them are close to doing so. The company plans to open a 24th office location in Hamilton by late summer.

Regus’ work spaces allow businesses to pay only for the space and services they use, with three- to 12-month options. In the new Jersey City location — the company’s second office location in the city and 23rd in the state — the base program starts at $129 a month and includes a corporate mailbox, a full-time receptionist employed by Regis and a small office space. The new location will take up 20,635 square feet of space at 101 Hudson Street, and is 80 percent occupied, Palma said.

“This is the new way to work today. It’s cost effective and people can be on the move and still be productive,” Palma said. “Our Jersey City locations will give people who do not want to do business in New York City the chance to do it in New Jersey.”
