Teaneck-based Aetrex, a leading manufacturer of comfort-focused fashion footwear and therapeutic shoes, has opened its first company-owned flagship concept store in Englewood.
The 2,400-square-foot store features the iStep, invented by Aetrex, which uses digital foot-scanning technology to produce an accurate foot measurement and help consumers choose shoes geared to their foot type.
“The store features state-of-the-art interactive technology that will bring people one step closer to a healthy and active lifestyle by matching them with products designed for their specific needs,” said CEO Larry Schwartz. “With several new and exciting lines added to our portfolio, and the comfort and wellness category quickly gaining ground, it’s the right time to debut our first retail store.” The shop is located at 16 E. Palisade Ave., in Englewood.
The company said its iStep Wave infrared digital foot scanner measures foot size and determines arch type and pressure points in less than 30 seconds. The company said its patented technology uses 3,744 sensors to measure the pressure exerted by the foot; the Wave’s wireless technology can then e-mail the information to customers.
A third-generation family-owned company founded in 1946, Aetrex has 215 employees, including 140 in New Jersey. It continues to sell its products through local shoe retailers around the country, including The Walking Co.; the Englewood location is the first company-owned store.
