Elmwood Park-based Spencer Savings Bank and its employees donated new socks, gloves, hats and scarves to help non-profit charity Bridges Outreach support its clients during the cold weather months.
Bridges volunteers work to end homelessness through outreach and individual case management focused on improving health and housing and fostering independence. During the clothing drive, dubbed Warm Up This Winter, Spencer Savings employees used contactless shopping methods at a variety of stories via Amazon Wishlist.
“As a community bank, we continue to provide support to our community wherever it may be needed,” Spencer Savings Chairman and CEO Jose B. Guerrero said in a statement. “We’re happy to support Bridges Outreach in their mission to help the homeless. They’ve been serving our community’s vulnerable population for decades.”
Spencer Savings, founded more than 75 years ago, has over $3 billion in total assets and operates 20 financial centers around the state.
Based in Summit, Bridges said its 2,000 volunteers annually deliver 65,000 brown bag meals, 10,000 pairs of socks and underwear, 7,500 toiletry kits, 49,000 cups of soup and tons of donated clothing to over 21,000 people.
