Stevens is one of a handful of colleges in the northeast to establish a booster requirement with its Dec. 17 announcement.
“The booster vaccine is important as public health experts are beginning to see reduced protection from the initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccines. Experts are confident that booster shots will increase immune response and provide further protection against the virus, preventing severe illness and hospitalizations,” the school said.
Stevens added that it is “evident that the vaccination requirement had a considerably positive impact on the health of our community. It is clear that those who were vaccinated were far less likely to test positive for COVID-19 than those who received an exemption.”
Students and employees must submit documentation of the booster vaccine as soon as they are eligible but no later than March 31. Documentation must be submitted through Workday by students and employees.
Limited exemptions will be considered, and any previous exemptions must be renewed before the start of each semester.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
