With operations already in Illinois and Minnesota, Student Transportation Inc. solidified its footprint in the Midwest with the acquisition of Wisconsin-based Dairyland Bus Inc. Wall-based STI announced the acquisition Tuesday, and said the move will add 700 buses to the company, already third-largest school transportation service provider in the nation. STI Chairman and CEO Denis Gallager said in the announcement the company had sought Dairyland for years, and that the new addition “is consistent with our core focus on rural and suburban family-oriented school bus business.” STI anticipates the acquisition will be accretive in the near future, with an addition of five locations and $36 million in annual revenue. The deal was financed by extending $35 million in senior secured notes, originally due to expire Dec. 15, for an additional five years.
