Throughout summer and into the fall you can pick-you-own at Phillips Farms in Milford. According to its website, the season kicks-off with strawberries, beginning at the end of May and lasting through mid-June. The farm also offers pick-your-own blueberries, black raspberries, peaches, red raspberries and apples.

It started as a local marketing effort. Last May, the Hunterdon County Economic Development officials weren’t trying to attract out-of-towners to the county’s farms, markets and restaurants—they were trying to attract locals.
