Rensselaer Commercial Properties in Fairfield donated 46.975 acres of land in the Borough of Riverdale to the Morris County Parks Commission. The property will now become a part of the Waughaw Mountain Greenway, a mountain biking and hiking trail system currently in the works.
“We believe that a crucial part of doing business is serving the communities we operate in,” said Rensselaer Commercial Properties CEO Christina PioCosta-Lahue. “For us, real estate is just as much about providing high quality spaces where our tenants can create, build, grow and thrive as it is about preserving the natural spaces around us.”
The Waughaw Mountain Greenway will be situated in the Borough of Riverdale and Kinnelon Borough.
“We’re thrilled to make this donation to the Morris County Park Commission and are even more excited that our land will help in the further development of the Waughaw Mountain Greenway,” said Managing Partner and Owner Robin PioCosta-Lahue.
Fairfield-based Rensselaer Commercial Properties owns and manages properties including office space, flex space, recreational facilities, self storage and some rural sites around North Jersey. RCP has a variety of green initiatives, including preserving an undeveloped forest in Mansfield Township in Warren County.
The new donation, announced June 30, expands the land preserved for the Waughaw Mountain Greenway to 463 acres.
“Preserving open space for our residents is a priority,” said Riverdale Mayor Paul Carelli. “It is heartening to see a business that is truly committed to giving back to the community in a big way. We’re grateful to Robin, Christina and the entire RCP team for their generous gift of this land to the Park Commission and are glad to have played a role in preserving this space.
“The Waughaw Mountain Greenway will be a wonderful amenity for not only our residents and those from surrounding communities, but will also showcase what Riverdale has to offer to all who visit the Greenway,” he said.
