Ron Ladell will serve as the next chair of the Rutgers Center for Real Estate, assuming the post from co-Chairs Carl Goldberg and James Hanson.

Morris Davis, the Paul V. Profeta chair of real estate and academic director of the Center, announced the appointment Dec. 1.
Ladell, senior vice president of AvalonBay Communities, has served on the Rutgers Center for Real Estate Executive Committee since its inception.
“From the time that the Rutgers Center for Real Estate was established, Ron Ladell has been an integral part of the mission of the Center and successfully engaged in all aspects of the Center’s activities including academics, research, fundraising and student outcomes,” Davis said in the announcement.
Ladell has overseen all of AvalonBay’s residential and mixed-use development in the state over the past two decades. At the Center, he teaches Real Estate Law and Real Estate Development. And he recently received the Rutgers Business School Dean’s Meritorious Award for Adjunct Faculty.
Canoe Brook Management LLC Chief Executive Officer Carl Goldberg and The Hampshire Cos. President and CEO James Hanson have served as co-chairs since the Center’s founding.
Davis credited both as being integral to the evolution of the institute:
“They have worked with me from the first day to provide a strategy for excellence that centered on student outcomes and academic impact. I consider Carl and Jimmy as friends and mentors and I am grateful for their guidance and tireless efforts. They care deeply about our state, and I expect they will both continue to help the Center for Real Estate impact the lives and livelihoods of generations of students to follow.”
“I look forward to continuing and expanding the activities of the Rutgers Center for Real Estate throughout New Jersey and look forward to working with anyone [who] is interested in assisting our incredibly talented and diverse student body achieving their goals and objectives,” Ladell said in a statement. “Rutgers University set me on a path many decades ago that has provided me with the intellectual skills and personal attributes to be successful first as an attorney and now as a real estate executive.”
Ladell received his JD from Rutgers Newark School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Rutgers College, according to the announcement.
“Now that I have the opportunity to pay it forward and work with the next generation of real estate executives, I feel honored to give back to my alma mater in such a material and profound way,” he added.
