The company expects this round of closings to be complete by March 2019. Of the 80 stores, 43 are Sears and 37 are Kmart.

When Sears filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 15, it announced the closing of 142 stores out of its approximately 700. Since then, it has announced other rounds of multiple closings.

On Thursday, CNBC reported that the company may be forced to liquidate Friday if its chairman Eddie Lambert is unable to buy the company out of bankruptcy for $4.6 billion through his hedge fund ESL Investments.

Sears did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
