CI Filing Systems, a Totowa-based designer and maker of tabbed folders and other filing products, is expanding in New York state, as well as shifting 80 jobs there, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office said Wednesday.A news release from Cuomo’s office said the company will expand operations in Tonawanda, near Buffalo, after receiving assistance from the state. The New York Power Authority has approved low-cost hydropower allocations for the company, and will provide up to $8 million to support the expansion, according to the release.
“CI Filing Systems recognized the growth potential in western New York, and we thank the company for choosing to expand its operations here,” Cuomo said in a prepared statement. “With this project, we look forward to the creation of new manufacturing jobs and economic progress in Tonawanda for years to come.”
CI Filing Systems will occupy both a 55,000-square-foot factory and 41,000-square-foot distribution warehouse in Tonawanda, the governor’s office said. It expects to be fully operational at the expanded facility in 2018.
“CI Filing Systems has been an important part of our community, and this expansion project will assist the company in continuing to serve their markets and offer good jobs to residents of both the town and (Erie) County,” Tonawanda Supervisor Joseph Emminger said in a statement.
A report in the Buffalo News said CI Filing Systems, which currently employs about 150 people in Totowa, would also receive up to $800,000 in tax credits from the state if it meets investment and job creation targets.
The report said the company will lease the manufacturing facility at 1136 Military Road, and buy the warehouse at 860 Ontario St.
