Toy Retail Showrooms, LLC, the new joint venture between Tru Kids Brands and software-powered experiential retailer b8ta that operates and manages the Toys R Us stores in the United States, has tapped retail vet Jamie Uitdenhowen as president.
Uitdenhowen will oversee day-to-day operations, new experiential store development, and vendor partnerships in his new role leading up to Toys R Us brand’s national relaunch this fall and beyond.
He joined Toys R Us from his post as chief marketing officer at Rockaway-based party retailer Party City, which he has held for two years. At Party City, Uitdenhowen managed all merchandising, planning and pricing activities for the company’s North American business. Prior to that, he spent 18 years at various positions at Toys R Us in Wayne, most recently as vice president and general manager, where he oversaw all merchandising decisions for Toys R Us.
“This is an exciting time for the company as we get closer to bringing back Toys R Us stores to the U.S. this holiday season. Having already worked with Jamie for many years, I am confident that his retail experience and leadership will have a significant impact on our success in the United States as we work to rebuild this beloved brand,” said Tru Kids CEO Richard Barry, interim co-CEO of the Toy Retail Showrooms in a statement.
