Branchburg company tapped to provide security system for schools.TransNet Corp., a provider of voice-over-Internet phone service and IT, said Tuesday it won a $700,000 award from a New Jersey school district for the first phase of its district-wide security system project.

Under the award, TransNet, which has headquarters in Branchburg, will lay the foundation for a modern security solution designed to protect students, staff and visitors, as well as school district buildings and property. The first phase calls for installing video surveillance and access control into an entirely IP-network based system. The installation will begin in November. The district’s existing VoIP system, in place at its high school complex, was designed, provided and installed, and is maintained, by TransNet.

TransNet’s security system connects cameras, digital recorders, door locks and other security devices to the district network, which can be accessed by authorized personnel any time, via any network-attached device, such as a smartphone. Subsequently, the system can include voice and messaging systems to provide better alerting and reporting of emergencies.
