A Tennessee-based truckload provider has chosen Orbcomm’s telematics solution for a fleet of refrigerated trailers, the Rochelle Park-based company said Wednesday.Orbcomm, which provides machine-to-machine and internet of things solutions, said Chattanooga-based Covenant Transportation Group would utilize its cold chain telematics solution to track and control the fleet at its Covenant Transport and Southern Refrigerated Transport unit.

“We are pleased to have been chosen by CTG to launch their cold chain telematics initiative, which further demonstrates that Orbcomm is the solution provider of choice in the transportation market,” Orbcomm CEO Marc Eisenberg said in a prepared statement. “Orbcomm’s cold chain monitoring solution provides full asset visibility and control to protect refrigerated cargo and maximize utilization, which will help CTG enable temperature management and improve the efficiency of their cold chain operations.”

The product will give CTG comprehensive temperature, fuel management and maintenance data for the fleet, through cellular connectivity, sensors and other platforms, Orbcomm said in a news release.

“Partnering with a technology leader like Orbcomm ensures that we are getting a best-in-class telematics solution backed by superior customer support to manage and control our U.S.-based reefer trailer operations,” Doug Schrier, CTG’s vice president of continuous improvement and program management, said in a statement.

CTG expects full fleet deployment of the products by the end of 2017.
