Triple Play is a weekly NJBIZ feature that asks top executives in New Jersey to talk about three things related to their industry.
Hersh Kozlov is the managing partner of the Cherry Hill office of leading international law firm Duane Morris LLP. He just led a team of lawyers that won more than $33 million in an important case in the banking industry in a London court, on behalf of the Ireland-based Taberna Europe against the Danish bank, Roskilde.
We asked Hersh for three lessons New Jersey business leaders could learn from his litigation victory an ocean away from our shores.
Think international: An ever-growing share of the world’s business is occurring abroad, on every continent. Even small business owners in New Jersey need not fear doing business abroad; your future may be there.
Fairness can be found elsewhere: Some executives might fear getting entangled in litigation abroad, where the rules, the courts and even the dress (think wigs) can be different. There’s no need. There is fair adjudication to be found in almost all modern commercial centers abroad.
Know and use your bench strength: Make sure you know your players, regardless of location. With the wonders of technology, you can easily align talent from multiple locations around the world.
