Joint venture partners Ironstate Development Company and Brookfield Properties said Feb. 23 they are nearing completion of Two South Willow, a new collection of 200 rental residences on Bloomfield Avenue in downtown Montclair.
Leasing is set to launch this spring at the new luxury rental community that will feature studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with open layouts and modern finishes. There’s also an exciting array of lifestyle amenities highlighted by a roof deck with Manhattan skyline views. The six-story building will also include 38,000 square feet of street-level retail and arts space as part of an ongoing effort to create a vibrant arts district anchored by the adjacent Wellmont Theater.
In anticipation of the Spring 2021 opening, interested renters can add their name to a priority wait list at www.twosouthwillow.com.
“We’re proud to introduce this dynamic property to downtown Montclair,” said David Barry, CEO of Hoboken-based Ironstate Development Company. “Montclair is a destination for people who enjoy its unique blend of shopping, dining, and cultural attractions, and it is consistently rated one of New Jersey’s most desirable places to live. The opening of Two South Willow will bolster that reputation by adding a new modern living option to an area of town that will soon be pulsing with activity, culture and convenience.”
Designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve and Minno Wasko, with interiors by Kara Mann Design, Two South Willow respects the historic architecture and brickwork of adjacent buildings, such as the Wellmont Theater. Inside, apartments feature bright and open living spaces, modern kitchens, walk-in closets, and balconies. Shared social spaces include a fitness center with Peloton bikes, rooftop study with a fireplace, and a roof deck with fire pits, BBQ grills, and a shuffleboard court. The building also offers keyless entry access and onsite, covered parking.
Just outside the door lies an arts destination, with a portion of Seymour Street being converted into a pedestrian-only space to create the Wellmont Arts Plaza. Designed by Montclair-based landscape architect Arterial, it will include extensive landscaping, outdoor seating, and multiple art installations, as well as space to host open-air performances and other events, creating a vibrant gathering place throughout the year.
NJ TRANSIT’S Bay Street and Walnut Street train stations are a short walk from Two South Willow and deliver commuters to and from New York Penn Station in about 40 minutes. Daily bus service to New York City is also available from multiple locations on or near Bloomfield Avenue. Residents with cars have easy access with proximity to Route 280 and the Garden State Parkway.
