Topgolf International, a global golf entertainment leader, announced Tuesday that it will open its Edison location this Friday.
The new, three-level, 65,000-square-foot venue is Topgolf’s first location in New Jersey and 31st worldwide.
“We are very excited to officially become a part of the Edison community,” said Justin Norvell, Topgolf Edison director of operations. “Our climate-controlled bays allow guests to play golf year-round, which is unheard of in the Northeast. We are looking forward to creating memories for our guests that will last a lifetime.”
People of all ages and skill levels can enjoy going to the center to play, Topgolf said. The center offers microchipped golf balls so players can receive instant feedback on shot accuracy and distance. The facility also boasts a chef-centered food and beverage menu, music, private rooms for events and hundreds of HDTVs.
The company said in a news release it still looking to hire 500 full- and part-time workers. The majority of the jobs will be local hires.
The center is located in the Hartz Mountain Industries Inc. Edison Towne Square development on Route 1.
The economic output for the Edison location is expected to exceed $264.5 million over a 10-year period, according to a third party audit.
Topgolf plans to open a second New Jersey location in Mount Laurel in late 2017.
Cole Schotz P.C. said it assisted Topgolf in the opening. Its team of Wendy M. Berger and Michael E. Jones worked with Topgolf on the project, including land use approvals, lease negotiations and New Jersey liquor license approval.
