Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo is gearing up to officially open its fifth New Jersey store.

Located at Jersey City’s Newport Centre, the newest shop is scheduled to open March 24 following a 9:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. The festivities will include a drum performance by Yamatai Taiko Ensemble, as well as exclusive products and promotions.

Giveaways are also planned for grand opening weekend, such as a Uniqlo treat box for the first 200 people in line on March 24, 25 and 26, while the first customers those days will also receive free coffee and treats from Modcup Coffee and Pullman Bakery & Shige Pan.

Additionally, shoppers can spin the Garapon Wheel from 2 to 4 p.m. during the weekend for a chance to win freebies.

The 7,800-square-foot shop, which is in the mall’s Center Court on Level 1, will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Founded in 1949, Uniqlo is known for its well-made, casual clothing for women, men and children, as well as its artist collaborations. The brand now has more than 2,300 stores in 25 markets around the world, including at American Dream mall in East Rutherford, Paramus Park mall in Paramus, Willowbrook Mall in Wayne and Menlo Park Mall in Edison.

Along with Uniqlo’s signature apparel, the Newport Centre location will offer in-store pickup for online orders, complimentary alterations and free hemming services for any pair of pants $20 or above.

The new store has also partnered with local nonprofit Welcome Home Jersey City to support refugees in the area with community shopping events and clothing donations through the RE.UNIQLO initiative.

Newport Centre, which is owned by Simon Property Group, is also preparing to welcome three more retailers over the next few months at the mall:

  • Kong Dog: a TikTok-famous eatery that serves up Korean-style corn dogs
  • A Sneaker City: a store to buy, sell and trade sneakers and streetwear
  • Steepologie Teas: a retailer offering a wide and fresh selection of tea, including more than 250 fresh loose leaf teas and over 50 bagged teas, along with teaware and accessories

They’ll join a retailer lineup that includes Aeropostale, American Eagle, Express, H&M, Hollister, Loft, Social Apparel, Champ’s, Forever 21 and Vans.
