The Fairfield-based retailer said in a news release that Sweetwood is the third generation of family members to run the company.
He replaced Matt Sweetwood, who left the company to pursue other opportunities. Jonathan Sweetwood has been the company’s CEO for the past 25 years and will continue in that role.
Alexander Sweetwood most recently served as vice president of operations for the company, and has worked most of his life in the family-owned business.
“I look forward to leading our team as our company continues to be the center of photography in New Jersey for generations to come,” Sweetwood said in a prepared statement. “We will continue to grow our product lines and expand our service offerings, such as our Unique University education program, our equipment rental program, trade-ins and repair services, as we strive to meet the needs of professional and amateur photographers alike.”
The company currently operates out of a 50,000-square-foot facility on Route 46 West.
