Prospect Airport Services will begin performing cabin cleaning and lavatory/water services on behalf of United Airlines at Newark Liberty International Airport starting this fall, United Airlines spokesman Robert Einhorn said.
“Prospect has a proven track record as an outstanding service provider and we look forward to welcoming them to our Newark operation later this year,” Einhorn said.
Prospect Airport Services will replace PrimeFlight and ABM who currently handle this work at Newark airport.
A source with knowledge of United Airlines said United Airlines’ previous contracts were up for renewal and that PrimeFlight opted to terminate its contract, which factored into this decision as well. The source said Prospect secured this work as part of a normal competitive bid.
As part of a collective bargaining agreement that Prospect has with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), they will hire all of PrimeFlight’s employees.
The source said that Prospect, PrimeFlight and ABM are represented by the SEIU and that United Airlines values its relationship with union-represented employees and partners, as well as their union representatives.
