As many as 450 New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority employees could be laid off Dec. 4, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

“The filing is related to the proposed private leasing of the Meadowlands and Monmouth Park,” said John Samerjan, a spokesman for the agency. “The filing is required by federal law.”

Jeffrey R. Gural, the to-be operator of the Meadowlands track and chairman of commercial brokerage Newmark Knight Frank,  was not available for comment. A voicemail left with incoming Monmouth Park operator and Resorts Casino co-owner Morris Bailey was not immediately returned.
