Vanguard Medical Group opened a new office in Jersey City on May 2, completing a total of six locations in Central and North Jersey.
The new location is co-led by Sally Mravcak and Robert Eidus — who is also president of the group and medical director of the Cranford location.
“Vanguard Medical Group is a leading family medicine practice founded on the principles of providing highly personalized, comprehensive primary medical care to the local community,” Eidus said in a statement. “Vanguard’s entrance into Hudson County with an office in Jersey City is based on the community’s critical demand for primary care.
“We believe that the collaboration of our Vanguard team with our partners, RWJBarnabas Health, Jersey City Medical Center and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, will help satisfy the need for primary care and specialty care coordination in Jersey City.”
RWJBarnabas and Horizon also weighed in on the opening.
“We are pleased that Vanguard will be serving a large community in Hudson County, where families greatly need and deserve quality primary care from a neighborhood physician’s office,” said Allen J. Karp, senior vice president of health care management for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. “Vanguard Medical Group has distinguished itself as a premier patient-centered practice and delivers the kind of well-coordinated primary care that helps keep Horizon’s members healthy.”
John Bonamo, executive vice president and chief medical officer for RWJBarnabas Health, stated: “Access to primary care services is a major priority for all the diverse communities throughout New Jersey that we serve. Primary care physicians are health care gatekeepers. As we move further into population health, their role will be critical to successful outcomes. Vanguard Medical Group provides an excellent response to this essential need in Hudson County.”
