Dr. Chun (Dan) Choi has joined Virtua Health as vice president of clinical operations for the cardiovascular service line.
Choi oversee the Virtua Medical Group’s medical and surgical cardiovascular practices, and he will manage the clinical aspect of the cardiovascular service line for Virtua Health, according to a November 29 announcement.
A cardiothoracic and transplant surgeon, Choi joins Virtua from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he held the position of surgical director of the mechanical circulatory support program and associate director of the cardiothoracic surgery residency program.
“We are excited to have Dr. Choi join the team as we enhance our cardiovascular center of excellence at Virtua and further establish a Delaware Valley destination for tertiary cardiovascular at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital,” said Virtua Health EVP and chief clinical officer Dr. Reginald Blaber in a statement. “His arrival is great news for the patients we serve.”
Choi said he believes Virtua and the care team at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes “will rank among the leaders in the nation as a top-tier provider for the community, region, and beyond” in his hiring statement.
Choi has written dozens of peer-reviewed articles as well as abstracts and book chapters, and he’s served as principal investigator for several studies on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
