Vitamin Shoppe Inc. announced Tuesday that it has appointed David M. Kastin, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Aug. 17.The Secaucus-based retailer and manufacturer of nutritional products said in a news release that Kastin will be responsible for overseeing legal matters of the company and will serve as corporate secretary of its board of directors.
“We are delighted to have David join our team and are confident that he will be a great asset to the company. He brings a broad legal background to the Vitamin Shoppe that includes corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and other valuable experience. His background and experience in the health and wellness arena coupled with his proven ability to successfully lead legal teams and manage outside counsel as well as accomplish business objectives make him a great fit as we continue to strengthen the core business and develop new growth opportunities,” Colin Watts, CEO of the Vitamin Shoppe, said in a prepared statement.
“I am very excited to be joining Colin and rest of his leadership team at the Vitamin Shoppe. This is an important time for the company and I look forward to executing on our strategy and making significant contributions to grow the business,” Kastin said in a prepared statement.
Kastin has more than 20 years of experience representing companies. He joins the Vitamin Shoppe from Town Sports International Holdings Inc., where he was senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to that, he was deputy general counsel at Toys R Us Inc. and worked at multiple law firms in New York, including Bryan Cave LLP.
