The new features bring the total number of patents owned by the company to 170.
The patents include mapping income calls and exclusive rights to a proprietary routing process between voice over internet phone calls and traditional phone service providers. Other patents are for new features such as the ability to pass along customer information when a customer calls and is transferred from department to department, and a process to identify speakers on a conference call by determining and transmitting information associated with call participants, enabling greater visibility into the identity of the conference call participants.
“Vonage’s recently granted patents have the power to enable business and other users to employ the cloud as reliably – and with more features and functionality – as traditional telephone solutions,” Alan Masarek, CEO, said in an announcement. “We’re excited to continue to innovate and explore the possibilities of these services.”
In 2016, Vonage renewed its lease at the Holmdel campus through 2023. The company moved to the location in 2005, shortly after converting its business model to focus on cloud communications rather than economically-priced landlines.
