The money will go into opening, expansion and remodeling of 12 New Jersey stores, along with the introduction of various in-store and online programs intended to help customers save time and money.
“At Walmart, we’re always seeking opportunities to improve, in every facet of what we do,” said Glen Spencer, a Walmart regional manager in New Jersey, in a statement. “This multimillion dollar commitment to our stores and technology will provide customers with a significantly enhanced shopping experience, whether they’re in one of our stores, or making a purchase online.”
Plans include a new Supercenter in Mount Laurel, set to open in this spring; store expansions in North Brunswick, Cinnaminson, and Rio Grand; and remodels in Cinnaminson, Lumberton, Marlton, Rio Grand, Turnersville, Kearny, Woodbridge, North Brunswick, Brick, Howell and Boonton.
Beyond the brick-and-mortar additions, Walmart will roll out their online grocery pickup program to 13 new locations, allowing customers to pick up their groceries without going into the store.
The company reported 2.1 percent sales growth for fiscal 2018.
