Women’s clothing store Avenue told its employees via conference call Friday that it would be closing all stores in the coming weeks, RetailDive reports.
The company has not publicly announced plans to close.
Avenue is headquartered in Rochelle Park and owned by Philadelphia private equity firm Versa Capital Management LLC. The company, which sells plus-size women’s clothing, started in 1983 and at its most recent count had some 254 stores nationwide.
Avenue is working with Illinois-based financial services company Hilco Global to execute its liquidation sales, RetailDive reported. Liquidation is expected to wrap up in September.
Via email, Versa told RetailDive, “We remain focused on Avenue as a retail destination for style-minded, plus-size women.”
Versa did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
