Florham Park-based World Wide Packaging Inc., a provider of cosmetic packaging components and plastic tubes, has introduced environmentally friendly initiatives to provide eco-friendly packaging.
WWP will begin utilizing sugarcane bio-resin, an all-natural renewable resource, on all tubes manufactured at its Suzhou, China, facility effective Jan. 1, 2020.
WWP says that by converting sugarcane into ethylene, it creates a product with the same chemical makeup of fossil fuel-based polyethylene. The result is a package that is not only highly functional but also 100 percent recyclable and far less harmful to the environment.
WWP works with clients to lightweight existing packaging, which reduces the amount of raw materials and requires no additional costs or tooling. WWP says the benefits of lightweighting include lower per-unit cost, lower transportation costs and the potential for reduced box weight.
