Drivers at transportation provider XPO Logistics in Cinnaminson voted Friday to become members of Teamsters Local 107 in Philadelphia, becoming the latest group of workers to challenge the company’s treatment of workers, according to the union.Drivers at transportation provider XPO Logistics in Cinnaminson voted Friday to become members of Teamsters Local 107 in Philadelphia, becoming the latest group of workers to challenge the company’s treatment of workers, according to the union.
The Cinnaminson XPO Logistics drivers join co-workers in Trenton; King of Prussia, Pa.; Aurora, Ill.; Los Angeles; Miami; and Laredo, Texas; who have already voted to become Teamsters.
“The XPO workers in Cinnaminson are tired of the ongoing mistreatment, including the loss of work to subcontractors, and they know that by forming their union they can have a voice to challenge the company’s actions,” Bill Hamilton, president of Local 107, said in a statement. “We will stand with these workers to help them win a contract that will improve their work lives.”
This vote comes after XPO Logistics employees at the North Haven, Conn., office asked to withdraw Teamsters representation last year. The Teamsters union also ended its bid in June to represent drivers in Erie, Pa., and XPO Logistics employees voted against Teamsters representation in Albany, N.Y, in January.
“If the election stands, it will impact 24 drivers at our service center in Cinnaminson, New Jersey,” XPO Logistics spokeswoman Erin Kurtz said. “It won’t change the direct working relationship XPO enjoys with more than 45,000 employees across North America. The constructive relationship we have with our employees allows us to work directly together to serve our customers and make XPO an even better place to work.”
The election has to be certified by the National Labor Relations Board.
