Terminal B in Newark Liberty International Airport is getting an upgrade, with 22 new restaurants and shops opening in 2019.
The rollout of new eateries and shops is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s effort to enhance and expand customer services and options across its facilities, including Newark Liberty, John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport.
“From major airport redevelopment programs to amenity enhancements, the Port Authority and its partners are committed to improving the customer experience at all of our airports,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. “Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Airports is transforming Terminal B concessions into a unique dining and retail experience for travelers, with distinctive New Jersey concepts and menus to match.”
Three branded sections of the terminal include Jersey Shore boardwalks, Newark’s Ironbound section and a Garden State theme.
The Jersey by the Shore food hall will offer boardwalk-inspired eats at Malone’s Fish Market, Little Tony’s Pizzeria and Firehouse Subs. The Budweiser Brewhouse will offer libations, just blocks away from the flagship Anheuser-Busch brewery down the street.
“New Jersey has so much to offer – bustling cities, rural countrysides, incredible diversity and a gorgeous coastline,” said Brad Tollefson, vice president and asset lead at commercial real estate company URW Airports in a statement. “We partnered with the Port Authority to capture and celebrate that energy and New Jersey attitude.”
Unlimited free Wi-Fi, improved restrooms, and real-time information on wait times at security and taxi lines will also be available through new upgrades. New nursing pods are available at all Port Authority commercial airports, and Newark Liberty now has an interactive New Jersey Hall of Fame.
Two of the 22 stores and eateries in this rollout of assets are already open—a new Starbucks and travel essentials store All You Need. The rest, such as Carlo’s Bakery and Italian eatery Piattino, are slated to open throughout 2019.
