Dr. Tia Welsh was appointed chair of women’s health for Valley Medical Group and director of obstetrics and gynecology for The Valley Hospital, effective Oct. 1, Valley Health System announced on Oct. 11.
Welsh, board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, has oversight responsibility for the delivery of clinical services for women, including program development and strategic planning throughout the organization.
Welsh will also lead the development of the OB/GYN residency at Valley, which will be introduced in 2024.
She joins Valley from a position as director of women’s health at Sun River Health, previously known as Hudson River Healthcare, where she oversaw 16 practices and more than 40 providers across the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island.
Prior to her time at Sun River, Welsh served as the director of family planning, associate residency director, and simulation trainer for NYC’s Health and Hospital System’s Lincoln Medical Cente,; and spent time as a clinical instructor at Hofstra University and an attending obstetrician/gynecology at Southshore University Hospital.
