The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants () named WilkinGuttenplan Principal June Toth as president for the 2024-25 term.

Toth replaces Withum partner Edward O’Connell June 1. O’Connell will serve as immediate past president for this term.

Toth has been with the NJCPA since 1995 – holding a number of leadership and key committee positions throughout her tenure. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Toth has built a reputation as a trusted advisor in a number of areas, such as not-for-profits, professional services, franchises and wholesalers. She’s also a mainstay on NJBIZ’s Accounting Power 50 list.

Prior to joining WilkinGuttenplan in 2023, Toth was managing member of zbt Certified Public Accounting & Consulting LLC. She is also the president of Roots & Wings, a nonprofit for aged-out foster youth.

Opening doors

As president, Toth says she plans to focus on widening career pathways for aspiring young professionals and breaking down barriers to entry into the accounting profession, an area that NJBIZ has reported on extensively.

“Having the CPA license can open doors and help you to be more successful,” said Toth.

“We are very fortunate to have June as president. Her passion for the profession and commitment to assisting the next generation of leaders is an inspiration to us all,” said NJCPA Executive Director and CEO Aiysha (AJ) Johnson. “We also thank Ed O’Connell for his service to the Society this year, particularly his focus on students entering the field of accounting.”

“June has been a transformative force at WG despite only joining us a year ago,” said Dan Fiorentino, managing shareholder, WilkinGuttenplan. “Now, we eagerly anticipate June’s next endeavor as she steps into the role of NJCPA president. With her extensive experience and natural leadership abilities, there’s no doubt she’ll excel in this position. While June has already made significant contributions to our industry over the years, her presidency will provide a platform for her to have an even greater impact on the accounting profession.”

Ed Guttenplan is the co-founder of East Brunswick-based accounting firm WilkinGuttenplan.
