Nearly 150 New Jersey companies made the 2021 Inc. 5000, published Aug. 16.

These 147 companies are among the nation’s fastest-growing, while 18 New Jersey outfits made the list’s top 1,000.

SwagUp, a promotional products company based in Piscataway, ranked highest on the list among New Jersey honorees, placing at No. 23 after a reported 12,919% growth year over year.

In all, the 147 companies gave jobs to 17,873 New Jerseyans and had total revenues of $8.2 billion. While 14 of the listmakers were newly founded companies, 67 were repeat honorees.

“The 2021 list feels like one of the most important rosters of companies ever compiled,” Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk wrote. “Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing. This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”

iQuanti, a data-driven marketing company based in Jersey City, made the list for the seventh time at No. 4,319.

“This award is a testament to the relentless client focus that iQuantians demonstrate day in, day out to drive superior digital marketing results through the use of deep analytics,” said iQuanti CEO Viswanatha Sastry Rachakonda in a prepared statement on the honor. “As an independent digital marketing services company, driving consistently superior results is the only way that iQuanti can grow this quickly.”

IT by Design, a Jersey City information technology company, broke into the list for the first time at No. 3,463.

“This recognition clearly demonstrates our leadership among managed service providers and the commitment to our customers as well as to the continued success of the MSP industry,” said ITBD CEO Sunny Kaila in a prepared statement. “We celebrate this honor with our strategic partners who have helped us expand our capabilities to add greater value to our services.”

Every region of the state is represented on the list.

Advertising and marketing company Moxie Print, for example, is from Somerset in Central Jersey, and nabbed the No. 707 spot with 692% growth. Electric razor company Skull Shaver, ranked No. 604 with 797% growth, represents the South Jersey cohort from Moorestown. Insurance company Options Plus Plan, ranking No. 249 with 1,829% growth, hails from North Jersey’s Wayne.
