Listen to this articleThe first half of 2026 has been busy at Hackensack Meridian Health. The main event, of course, was the April opening of the healthcare system’s wellness center and corporate headquarters at MetroPark. The new facility will allow commuters and other busy New Jerseyans a care option near mass transit – reportedly the first such arrangement in the country.
HMH opened the complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Gov. Mikie Sherrill, local dignitaries and top executives of the health system. In this special edition of NJBIZ Conversations, one of those executives – President and COO Mark Sparta – discusses the grand opening, what it means for improved access to healthcare in the state and the challenges facing the industry in general.
“It’s terrific for the region,” Sparta said of the MetroPark facility. “And whether you’re a commuter, whether you’re a resident locally, or whether you take the bus or train to work, either to Philly or to New York City, we’re here providing, incredible access to care, world-class care that Hackensack Meridian’s become known for. And we really believe that bringing care to where patients are is going to be the, the secret to success for good health for our communities in the future.”
